US President Barack Obama has paid tribute to British soldiers killed in Afghanistan but said "we cannot allow Afghanistan to be a safe haven for al-Qaeda".
In an interview with Sky News he praised the efforts of all troops but said "we've got a core mission that we need to accomplish".
